Self Love: Incorporating 3 Practices to Increase Self-Love in 30 Days

Updated: Jan 23, 2023

  • Do you look at self-love with dread?

  • Has the commercialization of love left you cold?

  • Want to change the perspective you have on love in 30 days?

I was never one for self-love in my daily life, as I always looked for external validation to gain self-worth, a bad habit I longed to kick. By seeking such, I unknowingly became a magnet for toxicity in relationships. It wasn't until January 2022 that I began habitually incorporating a self-love routine into my daily life. Did it happen overnight? No! In the beginning, it felt uncomfortable as radiating love toward myself just felt weird, I didn't feel I deserved it. April 10th, 2022 became the day I officially fell in love with myself for the first time and I continue to show that love by sticking with my routine and including some of these activities to create that habit of increased self-love.

There is something called the 21/90™ rule created by Dr. Maxwell Maltz which broken down means it takes 21 days to create a habit and 90 days to make it a part of your lifestyle.

Activity #1 - Morning Affirmations

One activity that I noticed created a large impact on my self-love has been preparing positive affirmations in the mirror when I wake each morning. An example of one I use is:

  • "I am guided, I am guarded, I am protected"

Activity #2 - Motivational/Educational Reading

There are many benefits of reading to promote better self-care. I love reading every morning and it has given me so much knowledge that I included in my life.

"self care is the ability of individuals, families and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health, and to cope with illness and disability with or without the support of a healthcare provider.” -World Health Organization

Activity #3 - All Needs Met

The daunting feeling of wanting MORE gets in the way of life in ways you'd probably never imagine. Would you believe that the feeling or need of wanting more could be what is holding you back? A trick I use to help rid the thoughts or feelings of needing more is by setting an alarm throughout the day letting you know that ALL YOUR NEEDS ARE MET. You have everything you need.

Challenge Yourself

During the next 30 days, I encourage you to challenge yourself and bring self-love activities into your daily routine, gaining a deeper sense of yourself and creating love within yourself. Subscribe today to receive your 7-day free trial.
